This week we bring you the ultimate “good times” photo – blue seas, blue skies, palm trees, beers and a little kayaking thrown in for good measure!
The above photo was taken on a recent voyage out of the Marina Casa de Campo to Saona Island, part of the “Parque Nacional del Este” and one of the most popular tourist spots in the La Romana – Bayahibe area, visited by more than 1,000 tourists from the surrounding all-inclusive resorts everyday!
This was our first visit to Saona island (hard to believe, given that we’ve visited nearby Palmilla, natural sand bank numerous fun-filled times), but when we were given the opportunity to see Saona we thought “why not.” And to be honest after so many years of not going – we were disappointed, it is beautiful, very beautiful with crystal blue water and gorgeous white sand beaches – but what we didn’t like was the sheer number of people there (the tourists.)

In the end, we went back to Palmilla – on a quiet day it’s the perfect place to enjoy the “tranquilidad” and on a wild day (such as the New Year’s Eve Palmillaso), there is no where better to party!
