Visitors will now be able to Snorkel on their Isla Saona Tour from Punta Cana
(TRAVPR.COM) DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – October 14th, 2014 – Punta Cana visitors will now be able to enjoy the underwater world of the Parque Nacional Del Este, with a snorkel and scuba excursion to Isla Saona.
Isla Saona is a small island located just off the tip of the mainland of the Dominican Republic, in the government protected nature reserve of Parque Nacional Del Este. Isla Saona is also one of the most popular tourist sites in the Dominican Republic, and with good reason. The island is surrounded by crystalline waters and the area is rich with wildlife, with many species of birds and tropical fish. The pristine beaches of the island have often been sought out by filmmakers looking for that perfect deserted island look.
While there are many Isla Saona tours, they mainly consist of boat rides out to the island, few tours provide visitors the opportunity to enjoy the amazing underwater adventures the park has to offer. Now, almost anyone can access the experience of observing underwater life, with the snorkel and scuba tour. Snorkeling is a fun and relaxing way to take in the underwater scene without fancy equipment or training. With this tour, snorkelers can swim right along side scuba divers to take in some of the best views of the Caribbean Sea.
The tour begins with a catamaran ride out to the Bayahibe Reef, known to be a great place to snorkel because it of the shallow and current free waters. The reef has the perfect conditions for a natural aquarium teeming with colorful tropical fish and coral. The tour then moves on to the first dive site of El Peñon, renowned as one of the best dive sites in the Dominican Republic. Waters are approximately 13 meters deep, so divers can enjoy a deeper look, while snorkelers can watch them from above.
From El Peñon the snorkelers will stop off at the infamous Saona Island to enjoy the beach, while the divers continue off to the second dive site called Ruben. This second site is a great dive, with 10 meters of clear water, abundant aquatic life, and beautiful reefs. After the second dive the divers will join the snorkelers to enjoy the oasis of Saona Island, where travelers will enjoy a Dominican lunch, and take in the experience.
This tour provides an ideal package for groups mixed with both divers, snorkelers, and those who would like to see another part of the Dominican Republic. Almost anyone visiting Punta Cana can take in the colorful and vibrant underwater world through snorkeling or scuba diving.
